We had a great turnout for our ACT! 2012 Virtual Road Show today and wanted to get the recording up quickly in case you missed it.
It’s a little rough, no editing, and you get to see a bit of a glitch that happened with my three monitor setup, but in 60 minutes you’ll get a look at Sage ACT! 20120, Sage ACT! Connect, Topline Designer, and we answer your questions.
Still have questions about ACT! 2012? Post ‘em in the comments, or contact us and be sure to keep an eye out for our next post about a version-by-version overview of the best things to happen to ACT! over the last 8 releases.

Currently we use Outlook integration to sync a portion of our database to our iPhones and iPads. Because the iPhone can only handle about 5000 contact records (of the 15000 total in our database) we have to use CompanionLink third party software to limit (we do this by syncing only one ‘group’). It sounds like with new Google integration, limiting contacts to be synced is doable (I wish Sage ACT! would enable this with Outlook!). So, my question is, can we somehow use Google integration to bypass CompanionLink/Outlook sync but still somehow have Google contacts then sync to Outlook? (We use Microsoft Exchange, so have no need for ACT! cloud-based database since records we care about are synced as Outlook records and are on our phones/ipads.)
A whole other question – what do you charge for annual support and what is included in your support program? I have always subscribed to Sage ACT! support.
Thanks!
Hi Amanda,
While I haven’t tested it, conceptually that should work – you could use a sync set to choose which contacts go to Google and then sync Google with Outlook. If you’re not familiar with a sync set, it’s basically criteria that is used to choose which contact records are going to sync.
That sync set is actually a feature of syncing Outlook with ACT! in version 2011 though – basically works the same way as the Google sync – you’d be likely to have less issues going direct ACT! to Outlook I would think.
As far as annual support – we customize the plan from client to client, but our basic support plan is $149/month (12 month agreement) and includes e-mail support plus 6 support incidents which can be used for phone / remote assistance / training support. We’re also in the process of rolling out a library of training videos that are accessible to our support clients at no extra charge. Give me a call at 1-800-260-2243 (ask for Len) if you’d like to discuss further.
Cheers,
Len
